Job Title

FPGA Silicon Validation Engineer

Role Summary

Lead post-silicon bring-up and electrical validation of high-speed analog I/O and PHY designs for DDR, LPDDR and MIPI interfaces. Work across silicon programs to characterize transmitters, receivers, clocking circuits, and voltage regulators and to ensure designs meet electrical and timing requirements.

Experience Level

Mid-level. Years of experience not specified in the posting.

Responsibilities

The engineer will own silicon validation activities from bring-up through characterization and debug, and will collaborate with cross-functional teams to resolve issues and improve designs.

  • Own end-to-end validation of high-speed I/O and PHY across multiple silicon programs.
  • Develop scalable validation frameworks and custom FPGA test content for characterization and regression testing.
  • Execute post-silicon bring-up, electrical characterization, measurement, and debugging; drive cross-functional issue resolution.
  • Advise and influence board-level implementation: channel design, stack-up, routing, and I/O termination.
  • Collaborate with firmware teams to implement test algorithms and validate calibration flows.
  • Partner with circuit designers to review architectures and drive improvements based on silicon results.

Requirements

Must-have technical skills and practical experience for the role; nice-to-have items are listed separately.

  • Must-have: Hands-on expertise validating high-speed interfaces and PHYs (DDR, LPDDR, MIPI).
  • Must-have: Strong understanding of high-speed signal integrity, power integrity, timing, analog/mixed-signal behavior, and electrical measurement methodologies.
  • Must-have: Proficiency with lab equipment such as oscilloscopes, BERTs, protocol analyzers, logic analyzers, and pattern generators.
  • Must-have: Experience in post-silicon debug and issue resolution across silicon, package, board, firmware, and software domains.
  • Must-have: Proficiency in scripting or programming for validation automation and data analysis; practical experience using Quartus for FPGA validation and debug.
  • Nice-to-have: Experience influencing board design decisions, familiarity with voltage regulator characterization, and prior work on calibration flows.

Education Requirements

Bachelor's or Master's degree in Electrical Engineering, Electronics Engineering, or a related technical discipline (as stated in the posting).
