Job Title

FPGA Silicon Validation Engineer

Role Summary

Responsible for post-silicon validation of high-speed I/O and PHYs, defining and executing validation strategies, and maintaining scalable test methodologies and measurement flows. Works cross-functionally with silicon design, package, board, firmware, and software teams to drive debug and resolution.

Experience Level

Mid-level. Industry experience in post-silicon validation, silicon bring-up, or PHY design is expected. No specific years of experience were listed.

Responsibilities

Execute and own validation activities for high-speed interfaces and PHYs; develop repeatable test methods and collaborate across hardware and firmware teams.

  • Define and execute high-speed I/O validation strategies across multiple programs.
  • Develop, standardize, and maintain validation methodologies, test setups, and measurement flows for scalable execution.
  • Perform post-silicon functional and electrical validation using lab equipment (high-bandwidth oscilloscopes, protocol analyzers, pattern generators, logic analyzers, etc.).
  • Collaborate with board design teams on channel implementation, stack-ups, routing, and I/O termination; review schematics and layouts.
  • Work with firmware teams to develop and validate calibration and test algorithms for interfaces such as DDR, LPDDR, and MIPI.
  • Partner with silicon, package, board, and software teams to drive debug, root-cause analysis, and issue resolution.
  • Focus on validating analog I/O and PHY components including transmitters, receivers, and voltage regulators for DDR/LPDDR, MIPI, LVDS, and GPIO.

Requirements

Must-have technical skills and practical validation experience.

  • Industry experience in post-silicon validation, silicon bring-up, or PHY design and development roles.
  • Hands-on experience validating high-speed interfaces and PHYs such as DDR/LPDDR, MIPI, and GPIO.
  • Deep understanding of high-speed signal integrity, power integrity, timing, and analog/mixed-signal behavior.
  • Proven expertise with advanced lab equipment: high-bandwidth oscilloscopes, BERTs, protocol analyzers, logic analyzers, and pattern generators.
  • Strong background in post-silicon debug, root-cause analysis, and driving cross-domain issue resolution.
  • Proficiency in scripting or programming for validation automation and data analysis (examples: Python, Perl, TCL, C/C++).
  • Ability to collaborate effectively with firmware, board, package, and software teams.

Education Requirements

Bachelor's or Master's degree in Electrical Engineering, Electronics Engineering, Computer Engineering, or a related discipline (as listed in the posting).
