Job Title

FPGA Silicon Validation Engineer

Role Summary

Hands-on silicon validation engineer responsible for post-silicon bring-up and validation of high-speed analog I/O and PHY designs (transmitters, receivers, clocking, regulators) for DDR, LPDDR, and MIPI interfaces.

Work within silicon validation teams to develop scalable validation frameworks, enable FPGA-based testing, perform electrical characterization and debug, and drive cross-functional fixes with board, package, firmware, and circuit design teams.

Experience Level

Mid-level. No specific years-of-experience stated.

Responsibilities

Primary duties include planning and executing post-silicon validation and driving issue resolution across multiple programs.

  • Own end-to-end high-speed I/O and PHY validation across multiple silicon programs.
  • Develop scalable validation frameworks and custom FPGA test content for PHY and interface validation.
  • Execute post-silicon bring-up, electrical characterization, measurement, and debug; identify root causes and coordinate fixes across teams.
  • Advise and influence board design regarding channel implementation, stack-up, routing, and I/O termination for high-speed links.
  • Collaborate with firmware teams to develop test algorithms and validate calibration and training flows.
  • Partner with circuit design teams to review architectures and recommend design improvements based on silicon results.

Requirements

Must-have technical skills and practical experience for successful execution of the role.

  • Hands-on expertise validating high-speed interfaces and PHYs (DDR, LPDDR, MIPI).
  • Strong understanding of high-speed signal integrity, power integrity, timing, and analog/mixed-signal behavior; experience with electrical measurement methodologies.
  • Proficiency with lab equipment: oscilloscopes, BERTs, protocol analyzers, logic analyzers, pattern generators.
  • Experience in post-silicon debug and cross-domain issue resolution spanning silicon, package, board, firmware, and software.
  • Proficiency in scripting or programming for validation automation and data analysis; experience using Quartus for FPGA validation enablement and debug.
  • Ability to develop FPGA-based test content and scalable validation frameworks.
  • Effective cross-functional communication and collaboration skills to drive issues to closure.

Education Requirements

Bachelor's or Master's degree in Electrical Engineering, Electronics Engineering, or a related discipline.
