Job Title
FPGA Silicon Validation Engineer
Role Summary
Lead post-silicon bring-up and validation for high-speed analog I/O and PHY designs, including transmitters, receivers, clocking circuits, and voltage regulators for DDR, LPDDR, and MIPI interfaces. Collaborate with circuit designers, firmware, board and package teams to characterize, debug, and drive design improvements across multiple silicon programs.
Experience Level
Mid-level. Years of experience not specified; the role expects demonstrated hands-on post-silicon validation or silicon bring-up experience.
Responsibilities
Primary responsibilities for this role:
- Own end-to-end validation of high-speed I/O and PHYs across multiple silicon programs.
- Develop scalable validation methodologies, test setups, and automation frameworks.
- Execute post-silicon bring-up, characterization, and debug using lab equipment.
- Advise and influence board implementation: channel layout, stack-up, routing, and I/O termination.
- Collaborate with firmware teams to develop test algorithms and validate calibration flows.
- Partner with circuit design teams to review architectures and recommend design improvements based on silicon results.
- Lead root-cause analysis and cross-functional debug across silicon, package, board, firmware, and software domains.
Requirements
Must-have skills and experience:
- Industry experience in post-silicon validation, silicon bring-up, or PHY design.
- Hands-on expertise validating high-speed interfaces and PHYs such as DDR/LPDDR, MIPI, and GPIO.
- Strong understanding of high-speed signal integrity, power integrity, timing, and analog/mixed-signal behaviors.
- Proficiency with lab equipment: oscilloscopes, BERTs, protocol analyzers, logic analyzers, and pattern generators.
- Experience in post-silicon debug and issue resolution spanning silicon, package, board, firmware, and software.
- Proficiency in scripting or programming for validation automation and data analysis (examples: Python, Perl, TCL, C/C++).
Nice-to-have:
- Experience developing scalable validation automation frameworks and test infrastructures.
- Familiarity with calibration flows and board/layout review for high-speed channels.
Education Requirements
Bachelor's or Master's degree in Electrical Engineering, Electronics Engineering, or a related discipline (as stated in the posting).
