Job Title
FPGA Silicon Design Verification Engineer
Role Summary
Perform functional verification of FPGA designs to ensure they meet microarchitecture and specification requirements. Work on verification planning, testbench and environment development, simulation, debugging, and cross-team integration to validate RTL and pre-silicon behavior.
Collaborate with FPGA architects, RTL developers, physical design, and systems/software engineers to drive verification coverage and fixes.
Experience Level
Senior — requires 7+ years of relevant verification experience.
Responsibilities
Primary responsibilities include planning and executing verification activities and maintaining the verification infrastructure.
- Develop verification plans, testbenches, and verification environments for FPGA features.
- Implement and run system and gate-level simulations to verify functionality, timing, and power behavior.
- Execute regression tests, analyze results, and diagnose failures in the pre-silicon environment.
- Root-cause and debug issues; design and verify corrective measures.
- Collaborate with architecture, RTL, and physical design teams to cover complex microarchitectural features.
- Support integration testing with systems and software engineers when needed.
- Document test plans, verification strategies, and drive technical reviews.
- Maintain and improve verification methodologies and reusable verification components.
Requirements
Must-have technical skills and experience required for initial consideration.
- Minimum of 7 years of experience in FPGA/RTL verification (pre-silicon).
- Proficient in SystemVerilog.
- Experience with UVM or OVM methodologies.
- Scripting experience (Perl and/or Python) for test automation and regression.
Nice-to-have:
- Experience with code and functional coverage metrics and tools.
- Experience with X-propagation and power-aware simulation strategies.
- Familiarity with multiple RTL simulators and regression frameworks.
- Experience creating reusable verification components from block to top and working with Ethernet protocols.
Education Requirements
Minimum: Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, or a related field. Preferred: Master’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, or a related field.
