FPGA Silicon Design Engineer
Intel CorporationJob Title
FPGA Silicon Design Engineer
Role Summary
Design and implement RTL for FPGA functional blocks, IP, and subsystems used in full-chip designs. The role covers architecture and microarchitecture definition, RTL coding, simulation, and collaboration with verification and physical implementation teams to meet power, performance, and area targets.
Experience Level
Senior level β requires extensive experience; the posting specifies 15+ years in RTL design.
Responsibilities
Primary engineering tasks and team interactions:
- Develop RTL (Verilog and VHDL) for cell libraries, functional units, IP blocks, and subsystems.
- Define architecture and microarchitecture for assigned blocks and create prototypes and models.
- Create and run logic simulations and verification to validate functionality, timing, and power.
- Deliver software models for device-level bring-up and user-visible functionality.
- Apply RTL implementation techniques to meet power, performance, and area targets in coordination with physical implementation teams.
- Review verification plans, diagnose failing RTL tests, and implement fixes to ensure feature correctness.
- Collaborate with verification, validation, and product teams across development phases.
Requirements
Core qualifications and desired skills. "Must-have" items are listed first.
- Must-have: 15+ years of hands-on RTL design experience using Verilog and VHDL.
- Must-have: Proven experience in FPGA, custom IC, or ASIC design and verification across architecture, design, and validation.
- Must-have: Familiarity with logic simulation and design verification methodologies.
- Must-have: Ability to apply RTL implementation techniques to meet PPA (power, performance, area) goals and work with physical implementation teams.
- Must-have: Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, effective communication, and the ability to work in a team environment.
- Nice-to-have: Knowledge of Ethernet/ANLT and NIOS.
- Nice-to-have: Familiarity with scripting languages: Python, Perl, TCL, and shell scripts.
Education Requirements
Bachelor's degree in Electrical, Electronics, or Computer Engineering or equivalent; equivalent practical experience is acceptable.
