FPGA Prototyping/Emulation Staff Application Engineer

Role Summary

Staff-level engineer responsible for validating, deploying, and improving FPGA-based prototyping and emulation solutions for large SoC designs using HAPS and ZeBu platforms. Works closely with R&D, product validation, product engineering, applications teams, and customers to enhance performance, scalability, and debug workflows.

Experience Level

Senior — typically requires 5+ years of hands-on experience in FPGA-based prototyping, FPGA design, and hardware debug.

Responsibilities

Key duties include validating features, debugging complex designs, defining requirements for product flows, and collaborating with global teams to deliver production-grade prototyping solutions.

• Validate prototyping and emulation features on large, complex SoC designs targeting HAPS and ZeBu systems.
• Analyze complex design and product challenges and propose practical, scalable solutions.
• Provide technical leadership to define and refine requirements for product flows and implementation.
• Collaborate cross-functionally with R&D, Applications Engineering, Product Validation, and customers to ensure successful deployments.
• Standardize and optimize workflows to improve efficiency, reuse, and quality.

Requirements

Must-have technical skills and experience, followed by preferred skills.

• Must-have: 5+ years of hands-on experience in FPGA-based prototyping, FPGA design, and hardware debug.
• Must-have: Proficiency in Verilog/SystemVerilog, RTL design, synthesis, and simulation.
• Must-have: Practical scripting experience with Python and Tcl; familiarity with design automation flows and productivity tools.
• Must-have: Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with proven ability to deliver scalable technical solutions.
• Nice-to-have: Knowledge of ARM bus architectures, display controllers/interfaces, and protocols such as USB, PCIe, SATA, DDR.
