Job Title

FPGA Prototyping and Emulation Engineer

Role Summary

Design, implement, and verify FPGA prototypes for Nvidia AI processors, GPUs, networking chips, and SoCs. Work across RTL design, partitioning, implementation, simulation-based verification, and lab-based bring-up to validate silicon and system-level behavior.

This role requires close collaboration with architects, designers, software engineers, and verification teams to deliver production-quality FPGA prototypes and debug complex hardware/software interactions.

Experience Level

Mid-level β€” requires 3+ years of experience in the semiconductor industry.

Responsibilities

Primary responsibilities include FPGA development, verification, and lab bring-up:

  • Architect, implement, and verify FPGA prototypes and interconnect modules for complex SoCs and processors.
  • Perform RTL design and partitioning for FPGA platforms; implement synthesis and timing-closure flows.
  • Develop and execute simulation-based verification and lab-based debug plans; use oscilloscopes, logic analyzers, and FPGA debug tools.
  • Bring up SoC designs on FPGA hardware, iterate on prototypes, and validate system-level functionality.
  • Automate development and validation workflows using scripting, tooling, and AI-assisted automation where appropriate.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to meet requirements, deliverables, and customer needs.
  • Maintain and use source control and build systems to integrate designs and manage releases.

Requirements

Must-have technical skills and experience:

  • 3+ years of semiconductor industry experience working on FPGA prototyping or related roles.
  • Hands-on FPGA implementation experience: partitioning (Protocompiler), synthesis (Synplify), implementation and timing closure (Vivado).
  • Proven ability to architect and verify FPGA interconnect and modules.
  • Strong simulation-based verification skills and lab debug experience (ChipScope or similar).
  • Proficiency in Verilog/SystemVerilog and scripting with Python, Perl, and Make; comfortable in Linux and Windows environments.
  • Experience with source control systems such as Perforce.
  • Experience using AI assistants, large language models, or automation tools to optimize engineering workflows.

Education Requirements

B.S. or M.S. in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, or Computer Science.
