Job Title

FPGA IP Software Development Engineer

Role Summary

Develop and deliver FPGA Soft IP solutions across the full lifecycle: micro-architecture, RTL implementation, toolflow integration, verification, timing closure, and hardware validation. Collaborate with embedded software, board-level hardware, and systems teams to produce production-quality IP for target FPGA platforms.

Experience Level

Senior β€” typically requires 7+ years of experience in production RTL design and FPGA IP development.

Responsibilities

Own RTL design, integration, verification, and hardware bring-up for Soft IP. Key responsibilities include:

  • Define micro-architecture and implement RTL using SystemVerilog, Verilog, or VHDL.
  • Drive FPGA IP integration and tool flows: synthesis, place-and-route, constraints creation, and static timing analysis.
  • Resolve timing closure issues, multi-clock domain problems, and Clock Domain Crossing (CDC) anomalies.
  • Develop testbenches and run simulations for block-level verification and debugging.
  • Validate designs on evaluation hardware and perform lab-level debug using logic analyzers, oscilloscopes, and protocol testers.
  • Collaborate cross-functionally to define interfaces, specifications, and system integration paths.

Requirements

Must-have technical skills and experience:

  • 7+ years of experience writing production-grade RTL with SystemVerilog, Verilog, or VHDL.
  • Hands-on experience with FPGA vendor toolchains such as Intel/Altera Quartus Prime, AMD/Xilinx Vivado, or Microchip Libero.
  • Strong familiarity with static verification: linting, CDC validation, and constraint troubleshooting.
  • Ability to automate and script tool workflows using Tcl, Python, or shell scripting.
  • Practical experience with synthesis, place-and-route, and static timing analysis.

Preferred:

  • Familiarity with embedded SoC architectures (ARM Cortex, RISC-V) and hardware-software co-design.

Education Requirements

Bachelor's or Master's degree in Electronics Engineering, Electrical Engineering, VLSI, Embedded Systems, or a closely related technical discipline.
