Job Title
FPGA IP Software Development Engineer
Role Summary
Design and deliver FPGA Soft IP solutions across the full development lifecycle: micro-architecture, RTL implementation, verification, timing closure, and hardware validation. Work within an engineering team and coordinate with embedded software, board-level hardware, and systems engineers to integrate IP into target platforms.
Experience Level
Senior-level. Requires 7+ years of experience in production-grade RTL development and FPGA IP delivery.
Responsibilities
Deliver and validate FPGA Soft IP from specification through silicon/prototype bring-up.
- Define micro-architecture and implement clean, reusable RTL using SystemVerilog, Verilog, or VHDL.
- Manage FPGA tool flow: synthesis, place-and-route (P&R), constraints creation, and static timing analysis (STA).
- Resolve timing closure issues for complex multi-clock designs and handle Clock Domain Crossing (CDC) problems.
- Develop testbenches and perform block-level behavioral simulation and verification.
- Perform hardware bring-up and debug on evaluation boards using lab equipment (logic analyzers, oscilloscopes, protocol testers).
- Collaborate with software and board-level hardware teams to define interfaces, specifications, and system integration plans.
Requirements
Must-have technical skills and experience required to perform the role.
- 7+ years of hands-on experience writing production-grade RTL (SystemVerilog/Verilog/VHDL).
- Proven experience with major FPGA vendor toolchains such as Intel/Altera Quartus Prime, AMD/Xilinx Vivado, or Microchip Libero.
- Strong knowledge of static verification practices including linting, CDC validation, and constraint troubleshooting.
- Practical experience with synthesis, P&R flows, and static timing analysis.
- Ability to automate and script tool workflows using Tcl, Python, or shell scripting.
- Experience with hardware bring-up and board-level debug methodologies.
Nice-to-have:
- Familiarity with embedded SoC architectures (ARM Cortex, RISC-V) and hardware-software co-design.
Education Requirements
Bachelor's or Master's degree in Electronics Engineering, Electrical Engineering, VLSI, Embedded Systems, or a closely related technical discipline.
