Job Title
FPGA IP Software Development Engineer
Role Summary
Owner of end-to-end FPGA Soft IP development: define micro-architecture, implement RTL, drive synthesis/place-and-route flows, close timing, and validate on hardware. Work within an IP team and collaborate with embedded software, board hardware, and systems engineering to deliver production-quality FPGA IP.
Experience Level
Senior-level engineer. Role expects 7+ years of experience in production RTL development and FPGA flows.
Responsibilities
Deliver and validate FPGA Soft IP from architecture through silicon-validated bring-up.
- Define micro-architecture and implement reusable RTL using SystemVerilog, Verilog, or VHDL.
- Drive IP integration and FPGA tool flows: synthesis, constraints, place-and-route, and static timing analysis.
- Resolve multi-clock timing issues, CDC anomalies, and timing violations for timing closure.
- Develop testbenches and run block-level simulations to verify logic functionality.
- Perform hardware bring-up and debug on evaluation boards using lab equipment (logic analyzers, oscilloscopes, protocol testers).
- Collaborate with software and board-level teams to define interfaces, specifications, and system integration plans.
Requirements
Must-have technical skills and experience.
- 7+ years writing production-grade RTL (SystemVerilog, Verilog, or VHDL).
- Hands-on experience with FPGA vendor toolchains (e.g., Intel/Altera Quartus Prime, AMD/Xilinx Vivado, Microchip Libero).
- Strong experience with static verification: linting, CDC validation, and constraint troubleshooting.
- Ability to automate FPGA tool workflows using Tcl, Python, or shell scripting.
- Experience with synthesis, place-and-route, STA, and debugging timing violations in complex designs.
Nice-to-have:
- Familiarity with embedded SoC architectures (ARM Cortex, RISC-V) and hardware‑software co-design.
Education Requirements
Bachelor's or Master's degree in Electronics Engineering, Electrical Engineering, VLSI, Embedded Systems, or a closely related technical discipline.
