Job Title

FPGA IP Software Development Engineer

Role Summary

Own the architecture, development, and delivery of FPGA Soft IP solutions across the full lifecycle: micro-architecture, RTL implementation, timing closure, verification, and hardware validation. Work closely with embedded software, board‑level hardware, and systems teams to integrate IP into target systems and ensure robust operation.

Experience Level

Senior — 7+ years of professional FPGA/RTL development experience.

Responsibilities

Primary responsibilities include designing RTL, driving tool flows, verifying logic, and validating IP on hardware.

  • Define micro-architecture and implement production-quality RTL using SystemVerilog, Verilog, or VHDL.
  • Manage IP integration and FPGA tool flows: synthesis, place-and-route, constraints creation, and static timing analysis.
  • Achieve timing closure for complex multi-clock designs and resolve CDC and timing violations.
  • Develop testbenches and run block-level simulations to validate functionality and debug logic.
  • Perform hardware bring-up and validation on evaluation boards using logic analyzers, oscilloscopes, and protocol testers.
  • Collaborate with software and board-level hardware teams to define interfaces and system integration paths.

Requirements

Must-have technical skills and preferred additions.

  • Must-have: 7+ years writing production-grade RTL using SystemVerilog, Verilog, or VHDL.
  • Must-have: Hands-on experience with major FPGA vendor toolchains such as Intel/Altera Quartus Prime, Xilinx/AMD Vivado, or Microchip Libero.
  • Must-have: Strong familiarity with static verification: linting, CDC validation, constraint troubleshooting, and static timing analysis.
  • Must-have: Scripting skills to automate flows (Tcl, Python, or Shell).
  • Must-have: Experience performing hardware bring-up and lab debug using logic analyzers, oscilloscopes, and protocol compliance testers.
  • Nice-to-have: Experience with embedded SoC architectures (ARM Cortex, RISC-V) and hardware-software co-design.

Education Requirements

Bachelor's or Master’s degree in Electronics Engineering, Electrical Engineering, VLSI, Embedded Systems, or a closely related technical discipline.
