Job Title

FPGA Firmware Design Manager

Role Summary

Lead a team of FPGA and firmware engineers to architect, implement, verify, release, and support high-performance FPGA-based digital systems for advanced semiconductor inspection and metrology products. The role combines technical ownership, people management, and cross-functional collaboration across system architecture, product development, and release activities.

Experience Level

Senior — minimum 8+ years of relevant experience with at least 4+ years of management or people-leadership experience.

Responsibilities

Manage technical direction and delivery of FPGA firmware across multiple product programs.

  • Define FPGA firmware architecture and lead design, implementation, verification, and maintenance efforts.
  • Establish and enforce coding, simulation, verification, documentation, and release standards and processes.
  • Drive design reviews and ensure solutions are scalable, maintainable, and reusable across platforms.
  • Provide technical guidance on high-speed digital interfaces, data acquisition, image-processing pipelines, motion control, and real-time embedded systems.
  • Coordinate with system architects, hardware, software, test, and product teams during development and integration.
  • Lead, mentor, and develop a team of FPGA/firmware engineers; set priorities and allocate resources across programs.
  • Manage employee performance, recruiting, onboarding, and career development.

Requirements

Must-have technical skills, experience, and leadership background.

  • Minimum 8+ years relevant engineering experience with proven ability to lead; at least 4+ years of management experience.
  • Demonstrated experience delivering complex FPGA/firmware products in a fast-paced engineering environment.
  • Strong expertise with FPGA development tools, design methodologies, verification practices, and release processes.
  • Experience with digital system design topics: high-speed interfaces, data acquisition, image processing, motion control, and real-time constraints.
  • Proven ability to define architecture, run design reviews, and enforce engineering standards.
  • Experience hiring, mentoring, and building high-performing engineering teams; strong communication and cross-functional collaboration skills.
  • Nice-to-have: domain experience in semiconductor inspection/metrology systems and FPGA-based signal processing implementations.

Education Requirements

Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, or a related technical field is indicated as preferred; the posting also accepts a Bachelor’s degree or higher or an equivalent combination of relevant education and experience.
