Job Title
FPGA Engineer with Security Clearance
Role Summary
Design and deliver FPGA-based solutions for control and signal-processing applications, primarily for radar and mission-critical embedded systems. Work on-site with a cross-functional engineering team to architect, implement, verify, and integrate production FPGA designs that meet stringent performance, reliability, and security requirements.
Experience Level
Senior-level: the role requires substantial prior experience. Guidance: minimum of 8 years of relevant FPGA or digital design experience.
Responsibilities
Primary responsibilities include translating system requirements into FPGA designs, implementing and verifying RTL, and supporting integration and documentation.
- Design, develop, and deliver production-quality FPGA solutions from concept through production.
- Translate system-level requirements into detailed FPGA design requirements and architecture.
- Implement designs in VHDL (or Verilog) with emphasis on reliability and maintainability.
- Perform design verification using self-checking tests, directed and constrained-random testing, and coverage analysis.
- Work with systems, hardware, and software teams to ensure successful integration and delivery.
- Prepare and review technical documentation: requirements, verification plans, and user guides.
- Participate in technical reviews and contribute to technical approach and system-level decisions.
- Mentor junior engineers and lead small technical teams as needed.
Requirements
Must-have and desirable technical qualifications for successful candidates.
Must-have
- Minimum of 8 years of relevant FPGA or digital design experience.
- Proven RTL design experience using VHDL or Verilog.
- Experience with FPGA platforms; Altera/Intel preferred (also AMD/Xilinx, Microchip).
- Proficiency with synthesis tools (Vivado, Quartus, Synplify) and timing-closure/debug workflows.
- Experience developing FPGA requirements, design documentation, and verification artifacts.
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively within a team.
Nice-to-have
- RTL simulation tools (Questasim) and advanced FPGA platforms (MPSoC, RFSoC, Ultrascale+, Versal, Stratix, Agilex).
- Experience with high-speed interfaces (GbE, DDR, JESD, PCIe) and hardware protocols (RS-422, USB, PCIe).
- Familiarity with Linux environments and software/hardware driver integration.
- Working knowledge of C/C++ or scripting languages (Python, Perl, Shell).
- Background in radar, signal processing, digital communications, or control systems.
Education Requirements
Bachelor's degree in a STEM or related field is required. The role requires an Active DoD Secret security clearance and U.S. citizenship. Minimum of 8 years of relevant FPGA/digital design experience was specified.
