Job Title
FPGA Engineer β Verilog / SystemVerilog & Embedded C
Role Summary
Design and implement FPGA-based electronic systems for Electronic Safe and Arm Devices used in DoD weapon systems. Work on RTL architecture, embedded software, algorithm development, and verification within an engineering team.
Work involves safety- and mission-critical hardware and firmware development with an emphasis on quality, debugging, and verification.
Experience Level
Mid-level. The posting requests significant FPGA and embedded systems experience but does not specify required years.
Responsibilities
Primary responsibilities include delivering FPGA designs, embedded firmware, and verification to meet requirements for defense hardware.
- Architect, design, and implement FPGA RTL using Verilog and SystemVerilog.
- Develop embedded software in C and C# for board-level functionality and control.
- Develop and optimize algorithms and digital signal/logic implementations.
- Analyze requirements and translate them into design, test, and verification plans.
- Debug hardware and firmware; perform root-cause analysis and corrective actions.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams and document designs and test results.
- Maintain product quality through established development and verification methodologies.
Requirements
Must-have technical skills and experience for immediate contribution; nice-to-have items listed separately.
-
Must-have: Experience with Verilog and SystemVerilog for FPGA development.
- Proven FPGA design and digital design experience, including RTL development and synthesis flows.
- Embedded software development in C; experience with C# for tooling or host-side code.
- Experience with algorithm development and implementing algorithms in hardware.
- Strong debugging skills for both hardware and firmware; familiarity with lab bring-up and instrumentation.
-
Nice-to-have: Experience developing safety-critical or defense-related hardware (DoD systems).
- Familiarity with hardware verification methodologies, CI/version control, and test automation.
