FPGA Engineer, Senior
Role Summary
Lead design, verification, and delivery of advanced FPGA and microelectronics systems for defense customers. Provide technical leadership on design, test, packaging, trust, assurance, and technology access across FPGA device families and platforms.
Work with program teams and government customers to produce technical assessments, system architecture, engineering evaluations, and fielding/sustainment plans.
Experience Level
Senior β requires 7+ years of FPGA development and research experience across multiple devices and platforms.
Responsibilities
Primary responsibilities include technical leadership, system design, verification, and customer-facing engineering support.
- Lead FPGA architecture, RTL and system-level design, and verification efforts.
- Develop hardware design specifications, perform requirements allocation and trade studies.
- Create functional block diagrams, state diagrams, schematics, and test plans.
- Implement, verify, and support FPGA-based systems through production and sustainment.
- Advise customers on microelectronics technology node access, integrity, trust, and assurance.
- Perform technical assessments and support strategic planning and engineering evaluations.
Requirements
Must-have:
- 7+ years of FPGA development and research across multiple device families and platforms.
- Strong experience with Hardware Description Languages (HDL) and embedded design; implementation of HDL for SoC or FPGA-based systems.
- Experience with verification methodologies and testbench development.
- Knowledge of hardware and design security concepts relevant to microelectronics and embedded systems.
- Ability to perform functional analysis, detailed trade studies, requirements allocation, and interface definition.
- Proven ability to develop design specifications and execute circuit-level design, implementation, verification, and production tests.
- Active Secret clearance or eligibility for Secret clearance; selected applicants will undergo a security investigation.
Nice-to-have:
- Experience with verification for defense microelectronics systems and varied IP blocks.
- Familiarity with Universal Verification Methodology (UVM) and continuous integration practices.
- Knowledge of HDL alternatives and tools such as HDL Coder or Xilinx System Generator.
- Experience with microelectronics fabrication, packaging, and technology node access considerations.
Education Requirements
Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering or Computer Engineering is required. Master's degree in Electrical Engineering or Computer Engineering preferred; Doctorate in these fields is a plus.
