Role Summary
Lead FPGA design and microelectronics programs covering design, verification, fabrication, packaging, technology node access, integrity, trust, and assurance. Provide technical leadership, programmatic advice, and engineering assessments for advanced systems and DoD customers.
Responsible for leading design, development, testing, fielding, and sustainment of microelectronics systems and ensuring hardware security and trust.
Experience Level
Senior β typically requires 7+ years of relevant FPGA development and research experience across multiple device families and platforms.
Responsibilities
Primary responsibilities include technical leadership across FPGA and microelectronics projects and direct hardware design activities.
- Lead planning and execution of FPGA design, verification, fabrication, packaging, and assurance activities.
- Provide technical and programmatic advice; perform technical assessments and strategic planning for government customers.
- Lead design, development, testing, fielding, and sustainment of advanced microelectronics systems.
- Develop hardware architecture, functional block diagrams, state diagrams, and schematics.
- Perform functional analysis, trade studies, requirements allocation, and interface definition.
- Oversee implementation, verification, formal acceptance, and production testing of hardware designs.
- Coordinate with embedded software teams and integrate HDL implementations into SoC/FPGA systems.
Requirements
Must-have skills, security requirements, and key qualifications.
- 7+ years FPGA development and research across multiple device families and platforms.
- Proficiency with Hardware Description Languages (HDL) and embedded design; experience implementing HDL for SoC or FPGA-based systems.
- Understanding of hardware and design security concepts, verification methodologies, and testbench development.
- Familiarity with HDL alternatives such as HDL Coder or Xilinx System Generator.
- Ability to develop hardware design specifications, perform circuit-level design, implementation, verification, and production tests.
- Ability to lead hardware architecture and detailed design activities (block diagrams, state diagrams, schematics).
- Active or eligible for Secret security clearance required.
Nice-to-have:
- Experience with verification for defense microelectronics systems and working with various IP block types.
- Experience with Universal Verification Methodology (UVM) and continuous integration practices.
Education Requirements
Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering or Computer Engineering required. Master's degree in Electrical Engineering or Computer Engineering preferred; Doctorate in those fields is a plus.
