Job Title
RTL Design Engineer
Role Summary
As a member of the Memory PHY team, design and implement RTL and firmware for high-speed memory interfaces (LPDDR/DDR). Work with firmware, verification, circuit, and physical implementation teams to deliver memory IP features, optimize power and timing, and integrate PHY IP into products.
Contribute across microarchitecture, RTL development, and implementation to meet performance, timing, and power targets.
Experience Level
Mid-level. Specific years of experience not stated.
Responsibilities
Primary responsibilities include:
- Microarchitectural design and RTL implementation of memory PHY IP features.
- Develop PHY digital architecture from pathfinding through verification and physical implementation.
- Collaborate with firmware teams to develop sequences and algorithms.
- Perform synthesis, static timing analysis (STA), CDC/RDC checks, UPF design/simulation, and gate-level simulation.
- Analyze RTL for power and timing optimization and drive timing synthesis and physical implementation.
- Work with design verification to develop and run UVM testbenches and debug RTL/firmware using simulation tools.
- Participate in design specifications and RTL code reviews.
Requirements
Must-have technical skills and experience:
- Digital design engineering experience with RTL development.
- Proficient in Verilog and SystemVerilog; experience with C.
- Experience debugging RTL and firmware with simulation tools and using UVM testbenches.
- Familiarity with Linux and Windows development environments.
- Knowledge of clocking architectures, synchronization, and CDC methodologies.
- Strong understanding of computer organization and architecture.
- Ability to collaborate across firmware, verification, and circuit teams.
Nice-to-have:
- SERDES, DDR, memory controller, or MAC design experience.
- Mixed-signal RTL exposure.
- Experience with Python, Perl, or TCL scripting.
- Leadership or mentorship experience.
Education Requirements
Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Engineering or Electrical Engineering.
