FPGA Engineer (Senior)
Role Summary
Design and verify FPGA-based systems and high-speed digital electronics as part of a cross-functional engineering team supporting R&D and production programs, including high-reliability and space applications.
Experience Level
Senior — typically requires 4+ years of related experience; advanced degrees may substitute for experience as noted in Education Requirements.
Responsibilities
Deliver FPGA and electronic designs across the program lifecycle and support verification and integration.
- Design digital systems including SoC architectures, digital filters, image processing algorithms, and communication interfaces.
- Implement and document high-speed digital electronics, FPGAs, and embedded processor systems.
- Support verification of complex FPGA SoC designs using AMD/Xilinx tools and IP.
- Develop and execute verification plans and participate in design reviews.
- Collaborate with electrical and systems engineers across teams to flow down requirements and meet system/subsystem/board needs.
- Maintain predictable work schedule and establish effective working relationships across teams.
- Perform other duties as assigned to support program objectives.

Must-have: 4+ years related FPGA design and verification experience; verification experience with FPGAs.

Must-have: Proficiency in VHDL, Verilog, and SystemVerilog.

Must-have: Experience with FPGA design tools and workflows, and implementing FPGA IP and embedded processors.

Must-have: Strong design, documentation, and implementation skills for high-speed digital electronics and embedded systems.

Must-have: Good written and verbal communication and presentation skills.

Nice-to-have: Experience with Xilinx Vivado/Vitis, Mentor ModelSim/QuestaSim, and OVM/UVM verification methodologies.

Nice-to-have: Familiarity with high-speed interfaces (PCIe, Ethernet), signal processing/DSP techniques, SI tools such as Mentor Graphics HyperLynx, and cybersecurity considerations.

Nice-to-have: Experience in space, aerospace, or other high-reliability applications and demonstrated technical leadership in FPGA design.
Education Requirements
BS degree or higher in Engineering or a related technical field is required, with 4+ years related experience. A Master’s or Ph.D. may substitute for two years of experience each. Related technical experience may be accepted in lieu of formal education. Degree must be from an accredited institution.
