Job Title

FPGA Engineer - P2

Role Summary

Join the Effector Digital Products team to develop and deliver FPGA designs across major vendors (Xilinx, Altera/Intel, Microsemi) for applications including gigabit serial interfaces, RF and EO DSP, controls, data links, and embedded processor interfaces. Work spans requirements definition through integration and test.

Position is a 12-month contract supporting production-quality FPGA releases, verification, documentation, and collaboration with circuit card designers and systems engineers.

Experience Level

Mid-level (P2). Years of experience not specified.

Responsibilities

Primary responsibilities include design, verification, documentation, and delivery of FPGA-based systems.

  • Architect FPGA systems: select parts, define interfaces, and specify CONOPS.
  • Translate system-level requirements into FPGA requirements and designs.
  • Design and implement VHDL code for reliability and maintainability.
  • Develop and execute verification using directed and constrained-random tests, with functional and code coverage tracking.
  • Perform simulation, synthesis, place-and-route, and timing closure.
  • Collaborate with circuit card designers, systems engineers, and algorithm modelers.
  • Support integration, test, and production releases; meet schedule and budget targets.
  • Create and maintain requirements, verification plans, user guides, and design documentation; perform configuration management.
  • Participate in technical reviews and design support activities.

Requirements

Must-have technical skills, security eligibility, and work authorization.

  • Active Secret clearance required to start.
  • Must be a U.S. citizen.
  • Experience in FPGA development or verification using VHDL.
  • Familiarity with major FPGA vendors and device families (Xilinx, Altera/Intel, Microsemi).
  • Experience with gigabit serial interfaces, RF/EO DSP, controls, data links, or processor interfaces.
  • Verification experience using self-checking tests, directed and constrained-random methodologies; tracking functional and code coverage.
  • Experience with simulation, synthesis, place-and-route, and timing analysis.
  • Strong documentation and configuration management practices.

Education Requirements

Not specified.
