FPGA Engineer/Lead

Role Summary

Design and develop FPGA and FPGA-based SoC solutions for new electronic products, from simple hardware functions to complex embedded processing systems. Work within the hardware/firmware design team to implement, verify, and bring up FPGA designs and mentor junior engineers.

Experience Level

Senior - minimum 5 years of FPGA development or equivalent experience.

Responsibilities

Primary responsibilities include architecture, implementation, verification support, and hardware bring-up of FPGA designs.

• Translate requirements into FPGA specifications and implement designs using Verilog/VHDL.
• Perform implementation tasks: synthesis, timing analysis, behavioral and functional simulation.
• Develop validation plans and write C-sequences required for validation tests.
• Integrate and configure common IP cores (DDR4/LPDDR4, PCIe, USB, Ethernet) and Xilinx firmware cores.
• Debug boards using ChipScope/protocol-aware logic analyzers and high-speed probes.
• Collaborate with verification and firmware teams to complete verification and system bring-up.
• Support hardware development via schematic review and, where needed, PCB layout collaboration.
• Document designs, specifications, and instructions to company standards; mentor junior engineers.

Requirements

• Proven experience developing original FPGA designs using Verilog (or equivalent HDL) for FPGAs and FPGA-based SoCs.
• Strong understanding of FPGA architecture and integration with hardware and software.
• Practical experience with Xilinx platforms and SoCs and interfaces such as AXI4, high-speed transceivers, PCIe, and DDR.
• Familiarity with FPGA toolchains, implementation methodologies, and IP integration.
• Working knowledge of schematic capture and PCB layout tools.
• Ability to use electronics lab equipment to troubleshoot hardware issues independently.
• Self-directed, follows established design procedures, and communicates effectively across departments.
• Minimum of 5 years of FPGA development or equivalent experience.

Education Requirements

Four-year degree (e.g., Bachelor's) or equivalent practical experience in Electronics/Electrical Engineering (ECE) or a related engineering discipline; the posting explicitly allows equivalent experience in place of a degree.
