Job Title

FPGA Engineer

Role Summary

Develop FPGA-based solutions for wireless/RF products as part of a cross-functional hardware and software team. Focus on practical, delivery-driven designs where size, weight, power, and packaging are critical.

Experience Level

Mid-level β€” typically requires 3+ years of relevant FPGA/DSP design experience.

Responsibilities

Design, implement, verify, and integrate FPGA and associated electronic subsystems for RF/wireless applications.

  • Design, develop, modify, and evaluate FPGA logic and electronic hardware components.
  • Create and manage pin and timing constraints; implement high-speed architectures (JESD204C, 2.5G/10G/40G/100G Ethernet).
  • Implement and debug transport layers such as VITA-49 in system contexts.
  • Develop and verify DSP baseband processing and associated scheduling and peripherals.
  • Perform system-level bring-up and debugging of custom hardware with FPGAs/SoCs; conduct tests and analyze results.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to integrate hardware, firmware, and software.

Requirements

Must-have technical skills, security eligibility, and practical experience for this role.

Must-have:

  • 3+ years of relevant FPGA/DSP design experience.
  • In-depth HDL coding: VHDL, Verilog, SystemVerilog.
  • Proven ability to debug complex FPGA designs in system-level environments.
  • Experience with high-speed interface implementation and debugging (JESD204C; multi-gigabit Ethernet).
  • Experience with VITA-49 transport layer and DSP baseband algorithms (modulation/demodulation, equalization, FEC, AFC, AGC).
  • Proficiency programming DSPs and FPGAs using Python, C/C++, and MATLAB/Simulink in addition to HDL.
  • U.S. Citizenship and ability to obtain and maintain at least a Secret security clearance.
  • Willingness to travel up to 10% (local travel).

Nice-to-have:

  • Experience with wireless standards (3GPP LTE/WCDMA/GSM, IEEE 802.11, IEEE 802.15).
  • Experience with SoCs (UltraScale+, Zynq 7000, Intel Agilex) and softcore processors (MicroBlaze, Nios, PicoBlaze).
  • Experience with DMA/AMBA buses (AXI/AXIS, ACP) and hardware bring-up.
  • Simulation and verification experience with SystemVerilog classes and packages.
  • Mixed-signal/RF experience (quantization, SFDR, dynamic range, power trade-offs).

Education Requirements

Bachelor's or Master's degree in Electrical Engineering or a similar technical field (BS or MS in EE or related) is required.
