Job Title

FPGA Engineer

Role Summary

The FPGA Engineer will design, implement, and test FPGA-based systems and related firmware and hardware to support product development. Work covers HDL and embedded C development, circuit analysis, prototype debugging, and collaboration with cross-functional engineering teams.

Position requires adaptability and a willingness to learn in a fast-paced environment.

Experience Level

Entry-level / Early Career β€” approximately 2+ years of electrical engineering or related experience.

Responsibilities

Key responsibilities include:

  • Design, implement, and verify FPGA logic (VHDL/Verilog); Xilinx experience preferred.
  • Develop and maintain embedded C code for firmware and microcontroller interfaces.
  • Read and analyze schematics and circuit designs to diagnose hardware issues.
  • Integrate FPGA logic with system hardware and perform system-level testing.
  • Create test plans, execute debug and verification activities, and document results.
  • Work with cross-functional teams to support prototype build and product release.

Requirements

Must-have and preferred qualifications:

  • Must-have: 2+ years practical experience in electrical engineering or a related role with hands-on hardware and firmware exposure.
  • Must-have: Practical FPGA experience; Xilinx toolchain experience preferred. Internship/co-op FPGA experience acceptable when accompanied by practical work.
  • Must-have: Ability to read, interpret, and troubleshoot electronic circuits and schematics.
  • Nice-to-have: Experience with VHDL or Verilog and embedded C programming.
  • Nice-to-have: Microcontroller firmware experience and board-level debugging skills.
  • Must-have: Willingness to learn and adapt quickly in a rapid-paced environment.

Education Requirements

Bachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering or Computer Engineering is expected; other engineering degrees may be considered based on experience. Internship or co-op FPGA experience and equivalent practical experience may be acceptable.
