Job Title

FPGA Engineer

Role Summary

Design and implement FPGA firmware for rugged displays and computers used in military and security applications. Work on feature development, low-latency video processing, and HMI/IO coordination while collaborating closely with hardware and software engineers in a hands-on product development environment in Duluth, GA.

Experience Level

Mid-level. The posting requests 5–10 years of FPGA firmware design experience.

Responsibilities

Primary responsibilities include implementing FPGA features, verifying designs, and supporting product releases.

  • Implement FPGA firmware for new products and customer-specific features.
  • Develop FPGA-based video processing algorithms and low-latency data paths.
  • Create and execute simulation testbenches for functional verification; analyze waveforms.
  • Troubleshoot and resolve issues in existing products.
  • Collaborate with PCB/hardware engineers on pinout, power, and signal integrity.
  • Write and maintain design documentation, block diagrams, and interface specifications.
  • Manage firmware configuration, releases, and version control.
  • Research and evaluate emerging FPGA technologies and development tools.

Requirements

Must-have skills and qualifications.

  • 5–10 years of FPGA firmware design experience.
  • Strong understanding of digital logic design and verification concepts.
  • Proficient in VHDL and/or Verilog.
  • Experience with at least one major vendor toolchain (Xilinx/AMD Vivado preferred, Intel/Altera Quartus, or Lattice Diamond).
  • Experience writing simulation testbenches and interpreting waveform results.
  • Familiarity with common interfaces: SPI, I2C, UART, AXI, PCIe, Ethernet, or similar.
  • Experience working in cross-functional product development teams; self-motivated and collaborative.
  • US Person required.

Education Requirements

Bachelor's degree required: BSEE or BSCE (Electrical Engineering or Computer Engineering).
