Job Title
FPGA Engineer
Role Summary
Design, implement, verify, and deliver production-grade FPGA-based digital systems. The role focuses on RTL development, timing closure, functional verification, lab bring-up, and integration with firmware, PCB, and SoC teams.
Work with cross-functional teams to validate high-speed interfaces and ensure reliable hardware/firmware interactions for deployed products.
Experience Level
Mid-level. Specific years of experience not stated in the posting.
Responsibilities
Key technical responsibilities include:
- Develop and maintain synthesizable RTL using HDLs for FPGA implementations.
- Implement FPGA constraints and achieve timing closure for production devices.
- Perform functional verification, simulation, and lab bring-up of FPGA designs.
- Debug and troubleshoot hardware/firmware issues using logic analyzers, oscilloscopes, SignalTap/embedded logic analyzers, and other lab tools.
- Implement and verify high-speed interfaces such as PCIe, Ethernet, and SerDes; manage multi-clock CDC domains.
- Collaborate with system architects, firmware, PCB, and SoC teams to define interfaces and validate signal integrity, power sequencing, and integration.
- Optimize resource utilization, performance, and power for FPGA-based designs.
- Produce design documentation, test plans, and handoff materials; support production bring-up and post-release maintenance.
Requirements
Core technical requirements and preferred skills.
-
Must-have: Proven hands-on experience with HDL and FPGA development; strong knowledge of digital design principles, timing analysis, and synthesis flows.
-
Must-have: Experience with functional verification, simulation, and lab bring-up/debugging workflows.
- Authorization to work in the United States without sponsorship required.
-
Nice-to-have: Experience with Xilinx or AMD FPGAs and associated toolchains.
-
Nice-to-have: Proficiency in Verilog and/or VHDL.
-
Nice-to-have: Experience with high-speed interfaces (PCIe, Ethernet, SerDes) and CDC/multi-clock system design.
-
Nice-to-have: Familiarity with lab debugging tools (SignalTap or equivalent), PCB signal integrity, and SoC integration.
- Strong problem-solving skills and ability to work collaboratively in cross-functional teams.
Education Requirements
Bachelor's or Master's degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, or a related technical field (as stated in the posting).
