Design, implement, and validate FPGA logic and support hardware/firmware integration on embedded systems. Work within an engineering team to develop reliable digital designs and assist with lab bring-up and debugging.

Experience Level

Entry-level (early career). Guidance: approximately 2+ years of electrical engineering experience.

Responsibilities

Primary responsibilities include design and verification of FPGA-based features and collaboration with hardware and firmware engineers:

  • Design and implement digital logic on FPGAs (Xilinx preferred).
  • Write and maintain HDL (VHDL/Verilog) and/or embedded C as required for FPGA interfaces.
  • Analyze and interpret circuit schematics and hardware to diagnose issues and guide design decisions.
  • Integrate FPGA designs with microcontrollers and firmware; support system bring-up and lab debugging.
  • Create testbenches, perform simulation and hardware verification, and document results.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to resolve hardware/firmware integration issues.
  • Learn new tools and workflows quickly in a fast-paced environment.

Requirements

Must-have technical skills and experience; nice-to-have items listed separately.

  • Must-have: 2 or more years of electrical engineering experience.
  • Must-have: Hands-on FPGA experience (Xilinx experience preferred). Internship/co-op FPGA experience acceptable; real-world project experience preferred.
  • Must-have: Ability to read and understand circuit schematics and hardware behavior.
  • Must-have: Experience with VHDL or Verilog and/or embedded C for interfacing with FPGA logic.
  • Must-have: Willingness to learn and adapt in a rapid-paced environment.
  • Nice-to-have: Microcontroller development experience and familiarity with Xilinx toolchains and debugging hardware.

Education Requirements

Bachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering or Computer Engineering preferred; other engineering degrees may be considered. Equivalent practical experience is acceptable.
