Job Title
FPGA Engineer
Role Summary
Develop FPGA-based solutions for a wireless product line with tight size, weight, power, and packaging constraints. Work on FPGA/DSP implementations for RF products as part of a cross-functional hardware and software team. U.S. citizenship required; candidate must be willing and able to obtain a security clearance.
Experience Level
Mid-level — 3+ years of relevant FPGA/DSP design experience.
Responsibilities
Design, implement, and validate FPGA and DSP solutions for RF and wireless systems; collaborate with hardware, software, and systems engineers to produce field-ready products.
- Design, develop, modify, and evaluate FPGA-based hardware and associated circuitry.
- Translate system requirements into HDL implementations and manage pin/timing constraints.
- Integrate and debug FPGA designs in-system and perform custom hardware bring-up.
- Implement and verify high-speed interfaces and transport layers such as JESD204C, multi‑Gb Ethernet, and VITA‑49.
- Perform lab experiments, analyze test results, and select components based on specifications and reliability.
- Develop test and automation code using Python, C/C++, and MATLAB/Simulink.
Requirements
Key must-have skills and preferred capabilities.
- 3+ years of relevant FPGA/DSP design experience.
- In-depth HDL experience: VHDL, Verilog, SystemVerilog.
- Experience managing pin and timing constraints and debugging complex FPGA systems in situ.
- Experience with high-speed architectures and interfaces (JESD204C, 2.5G–100G Ethernet).
- Knowledge of communications algorithms and RF concepts: modulation/demodulation, equalization, channel coding (FEC), AFC, AGC.
- DSP baseband signal processing and peripheral programming.
- Experience programming DSPs/FPGAs with Python, C/C++, and MATLAB/Simulink.
- U.S. citizenship and ability to obtain and maintain at least a Secret clearance.
-
Preferred: wireless standards (3GPP/LTE, IEEE 802.11, IEEE 802.15), mixed-signal considerations, SoC experience (Ultrascale+, Zynq 7000, Agilex), softcore processors, DMA/AXI, and advanced SystemVerilog simulation.
Education Requirements
Bachelor's or Master's degree in Electrical Engineering or a similar technical field (BS or MS in EE or related discipline) as stated in the posting.
