FPGA Engineer
Role Summary
Work on verification and on-target testing of FPGA designs for a Digital Control Unit modernization program. The role focuses on simulation, OTT, hardware integration, and DO-254 compliance in a safety-critical environment while collaborating with hardware, systems, and software teams.
Onsite in Cedar Rapids, IA. Compensation range: $140,000 - $165,000. $5,000 sign-on bonus and relocation bonus available for eligible candidates.
Experience Level
Mid-level β 5+ years of FPGA verification experience (SystemVerilog / UVM) expected.
Responsibilities
Primary duties include verification planning, testbench development, simulation, and lab validation.
- Develop and execute FPGA verification plans, procedures, and test strategies.
- Design and maintain UVM-based testbenches, agents, drivers, monitors, scoreboards, and sequences.
- Perform simulation, debug, root cause analysis, and regression testing.
- Support On-Target Testing (OTT), board bring-up, and hardware integration activities.
- Create and maintain DO-254 lifecycle documentation, including requirements traceability and verification evidence.
- Review RTL designs, requirements, and test results for quality and compliance.
- Collaborate with systems, software, and hardware engineers to resolve issues and ensure design readiness.
Requirements
Must-have technical skills, practical experience, and legal eligibility.
- 5+ years of experience in FPGA verification using SystemVerilog and UVM.
- Proven ability to build UVM testbenches and develop agents, drivers, monitors, sequence items, predictors, and scoreboards.
- Experience with simulation debug, assertions, and functional coverage.
- Working knowledge of digital systems, FPGA design methodologies, timing analysis, and hardware debugging.
- Experience in DO-254 regulated environments (DAL A preferred) and requirements-based verification/traceability.
- Familiarity with FPGA development tools such as Xilinx Vivado and version control (e.g., GitLab).
- Experience with requirements tools (e.g., DOORS), change tracking (e.g., JIRA), and board bring-up procedures.
- Strong communication, problem-solving skills, and self-motivation.
- Ability to work hands-on in the lab and collaborate across hardware, systems, and software teams.
- Must be a U.S. citizen or lawful permanent resident.
- Role is onsite in Cedar Rapids, IA; candidates should be located in or willing to relocate.
Education Requirements
Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, or a related technical field is required.
