Job Title

FPGA Engineer

Role Summary

Work on design, implementation, verification, test and deployment of FPGA devices for high-speed optical networking within Nokia's Optical Products Division. The role involves RTL development, system bring-up, debugging across board and software interfaces, and supporting production and field deployments.

Experience Level

Mid-level β€” typically requires 2+ years of relevant FPGA or ASIC development, simulation, and verification experience.

Responsibilities

Primary responsibilities include feature design in large FPGA projects, system integration, and support for production deployments.

  • Design and implement feature requirements for large-scale FPGA designs.
  • Develop and execute simulation and verification flows; collaborate on verification strategies.
  • Work with board designers and software developers for system bring-up and integration.
  • Debug device, pack, and system-level issues; perform root-cause analysis.
  • Support factory testing and provide field support during production and deployment phases.
  • Contribute to timing closure, constraints, and floor-planning activities.

Requirements

Must-have technical skills and practical experience required for the role.

  • 2+ years of FPGA or ASIC development, simulation, and verification experience.
  • Practical knowledge of FPGA timing closure, constraints, and floor-planning.
  • Proficiency in RTL languages: VHDL, Verilog, or SystemVerilog.
  • Experience with system bring-up, debugging across board and software interfaces, and root-cause analysis.
  • Good communication and collaboration skills; able to work independently to resolve issues.

Nice-to-have:

  • Experience with SystemC and UVM.
  • Analog experience, including high-speed FPGA-based SERDES work.

Education Requirements

Bachelor's or Master's degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, or a related technical field.
