Job Title

FPGA Engineer - 26707

Role Summary

Design, implement, validate and support FPGA-based solutions for signal processing and related mission systems within HII Mission Technologies’ Warfare Systems group. Work includes system-level analysis, integration, verification/validation, and test support for radar, electronic warfare (EW) and sensor systems at Wright-Patterson AFB, OH.

Experience Level

Mid-level (typical experience range: approximately 3–7 years). Specific experience expectations vary by degree (see Education Requirements).

Responsibilities

Deliver technical work across design, integration, test, and lifecycle support for FPGA and sensor systems.

  • Design, implement and optimize FPGA solutions for signal processing and system applications.
  • Perform system integration, verification and validation across hardware and software components.
  • Conduct functional analysis, timeline analysis, trade studies, requirements allocation and interface definition.
  • Execute RF chain and radar/EW system performance analysis and testing.
  • Support lab test execution: test planning, procedures, instrumentation, data collection and test reports.
  • Provide hands-on integration, troubleshooting and verification in lab and field environments.
  • Identify technical risk and support technical/functional leadership and customer deliverables.

Requirements

Must-have skills, conditions and clearances for successful performance in the role.

  • Experience with FPGA development and implementation in signal-processing systems.
  • Working knowledge of radar or electronic warfare concepts, RF chain analysis, and signal processing techniques.
  • Familiarity with MATLAB and common analysis/performance tools.
  • Hands-on skills in hardware/software integration, test execution, and networking.
  • Ability to produce test plans, procedures and technical reports; support customer deliverables.
  • Willingness to travel (0–10% routine; may require extended deployments of ~2–3 weeks).
  • Physical ability to work in laboratory, shipboard or field conditions; may require climbing ladders, confined spaces, outdoor work in adverse weather, and lifting up to 50 lbs.
  • Must be able to obtain and maintain a TS/SCI security clearance; a Secret clearance is required to start.

Education Requirements

Degree/experience combinations specified by the posting: Bachelor's degree in a related field with ~5 years relevant experience; Master’s degree with ~3 years relevant experience; PhD or JD with 0 years relevant experience; or High School diploma (or equivalent) with ~9 years relevant experience. Posting references "related field" and allows equivalent practical experience in lieu of a degree.
