FPGA Engineer (Senior)
Role Summary
Work on FPGA and electronic system design for high-precision, high-reliability applications across R&D, prototype and production programs. Collaborate with electrical and systems engineers to implement, verify, and deliver FPGA SoC-based solutions.
Experience Level
Senior β typically 4+ years of relevant FPGA/embedded systems experience.
Responsibilities
Primary duties include system-level FPGA design and verification across the program lifecycle.
- Design and implement FPGA/SoC architectures, digital filters, image-processing blocks, and communication interfaces.
- Develop and execute verification strategies for complex FPGA SoC designs using vendor tools and IP.
- Support high-speed digital design, integration, and documentation for embedded processor systems and boards.
- Participate in R&D, proof-of-concept, and production efforts; adapt designs to program requirements.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams and maintain effective working relationships across engineering and program units.
- Maintain a regular, predictable schedule and perform other duties as assigned.
Requirements
Must-have technical skills and experience.
- Proven FPGA verification experience and hands-on FPGA development.
- Experience with VHDL, Verilog, and SystemVerilog.
- Demonstrated design, documentation, and implementation skills for high-speed digital electronics and embedded processor systems.
- Ability to derive and flow down system/subsystem/board requirements.
- Strong verbal and written communication and presentation skills.
Nice-to-have / preferred:
- Experience with Xilinx (Vivado/Vitis) toolflow or Mentor ModelSim/QuestaSim.
- Familiarity with OVM/UVM verification methodologies.
- Experience with high-speed interfaces such as PCIe and Ethernet.
- Signal processing / DSP algorithm experience.
- Experience with SI tools (e.g., Mentor Hyperlynx) and cybersecurity techniques.
- Prior work in space, aerospace, or other high-reliability domains.
Education Requirements
Bachelor's degree in Engineering or a related technical field required (BS). Master's or Ph.D. may substitute for two years of experience per degree. Relevant technical experience may be considered in lieu of formal education. Degrees should be from regionally/accredited institutions.
