FPGA Engineer
Role Summary
Design, develop, and test FPGA-based RF and software-defined radio (SDR) capabilities. Work on a multidisciplinary engineering team in a research and development environment to integrate FPGAs with RF hardware and embedded systems for government programs.
Hands-on role focused on RTL implementation, verification, debugging, and system integration to deliver operational solutions.
Experience Level
Senior β 7+ years of professional experience required.
Responsibilities
Primary technical and integration responsibilities:
- Design, implement, and maintain FPGA logic (RTL) for RF and SDR applications.
- Write custom VHDL or Verilog register-transfer level (RTL) code.
- Perform simulation and verification using tools such as ModelSim or Questa.
- Debug at module and system level and perform system integration testing.
- Interface FPGAs with RF hardware and develop SDR systems.
- Work on embedded systems and real-time processing tasks.
- Collaborate with engineers across hardware, firmware, and software domains.
Requirements
Must-have technical qualifications and clearances:
- Capable of obtaining and maintaining a DOD Top Secret SCI clearance.
- 7+ years of professional experience developing SDR solutions and FPGA-based RF systems.
- Proficiency in VHDL or Verilog and hands-on RTL development.
- Experience with FPGA toolchains such as Xilinx (Vivado) or Intel/Altera.
- Experience programming in C and C++; MATLAB experience for algorithm development.
- Experience with Git for version control and Linux distributions (e.g., RedHat, Rocky Linux).
- Hands-on experience with embedded hardware systems and real-time processing.
- Practical experience with RF signal processing and digital RF sampling/modulation concepts.
- Familiarity with simulation and verification tools (ModelSim, Questa).
Education Requirements
Bachelor's degree required. The posting also references a high school diploma or GED as a minimum in another clause. Preferred: Bachelor's degree in Engineering or Computer Science.
