Job Title
FPGA/DSP Design Engineer (VHDL/Verilog)
Role Summary
Implement FPGA-based digital signal processing for radio modem and SATCOM products. Work on architectural design, RTL implementation, verification, and lab bring-up as part of a small engineering team focused on wireless and satellite communications.
On-site role in Torrance, CA with a 9/80 schedule option; position supports product development from design through system testing.
Experience Level
Entry-level — minimum 1 year of industry FPGA implementation experience required.
Responsibilities
Primary responsibilities include design, verification, and support of FPGA/DSP features used in modem and radio systems.
- Design and implement FPGA-based digital signal processing systems (RTL).
- Develop self-checking unit- and system-level testbenches and verification environments.
- Troubleshoot, isolate, and resolve design and integration issues.
- Participate in full FPGA development flow: synthesis, place & route, timing closure, and bitstream generation.
- Integrate FPGA designs with board-level hardware and host software; collaborate with cross-functional teams.
- Perform lab bring-up and validation using oscilloscopes, spectrum analyzers, signal sources, and power supplies.
- Document designs, test procedures, and results; communicate progress with engineering team.
Requirements
Must-have technical skills and conditions for employment. Preferred skills listed separately.
- RTL design experience; VHDL preferred.
- Understanding of FPGA design flow (synthesis, place & route) and full FPGA development lifecycle.
- Familiarity with hardware architecture and software/hardware interaction.
- Ability to read and interpret schematic designs.
- Basic working knowledge of lab equipment (oscilloscopes, spectrum analyzers, signal sources, power supplies).
- Experience with Xilinx and/or Altera tool suites.
- Minimum 1 year industry work experience in FPGA implementation.
- Authorization to work full-time in the United States without visa sponsorship.
- Must be able to relocate to Torrance, CA (90505) prior to starting work.
Preferred / nice-to-have:
- Experience with Subversion for source control.
