Job Title

FPGA Development Engineer

Role Summary

As an FPGA Development Engineer on the embedded development team in Novi, MI, you will design, implement and test FPGA-based features and support existing embedded products. The role begins onsite and will transition to a hybrid schedule after training.

This is a salaried position with competitive benefits.

Experience Level

Mid-level β€” 4–7 years of FPGA or VHDL experience; the posting also notes embedded software experience of ~3 years and automotive experience of ~2 years.

Responsibilities

Primary responsibilities include design, implementation, testing and documentation of FPGA and embedded system features.

  • Design FPGA components and system architecture from requirements.
  • Develop VHDL for new products and maintain/enhance existing designs.
  • Create and execute unit and system test procedures.
  • Use logic analyzers and oscilloscopes for hardware debugging and validation.
  • Debug and analyze existing embedded systems and SoC designs.
  • Produce and update technical documentation and design artifacts.

Requirements

Must-have technical and non-technical skills; bonus items listed separately.

  • Proven experience developing embedded products using VHDL.
  • Experience with logic analyzers, oscilloscopes, and hardware debugging.
  • Experience with SoC design and electrical schematic design.
  • Knowledge of object-oriented concepts, general programming technologies, and software development lifecycles.
  • Familiarity with software design patterns and source control systems.
  • Ability to work independently, communicate clearly, and follow processes; attention to detail and strong organizational skills.
  • Ability to commute to Novi, MI 48377; role transitions to a hybrid schedule based in Novi.

Nice-to-have / bonus:

  • Experience with Xilinx devices.
  • Familiarity with C++ and system interfaces (CAN, JTAG, I2C, USB, Ethernet).
  • Experience with SAE, ISO, ASAM standards, data acquisition, or automotive/engine control systems.
