FPGA Design Verification and Validation Engineer
Advanced Micro DevicesJob Title
FPGA Design Verification and Validation Engineer
Role Summary
Plan, build, and execute end-to-end processing system solutions for AMD Xilinx FPGA/SoC/ACAP products, from Vivado IP configuration through software execution to meet customer use cases. Collaborate with architects, hardware, firmware, verification, and cross-site stakeholders to define specifications and deliverables.
Experience Level
Mid-level. The posting specifies at least 6+ years of experience in IP/sub-system/system development and validation.
Responsibilities
Primary responsibilities include development, integration, verification, and delivery of processing system solutions.
- Plan and execute end-to-end processing system solutions including Vivado IP configuration and software integration.
- Collaborate with marketing, architects, hardware, pre/post-silicon verification and firmware teams to define specifications and implementation with agreed scope and timelines.
- Develop processing IP solutions targeting AMD Xilinx/AECG FPGA, SoC, and ACAP platforms in bare-metal and OS-hosted environments.
- Drive requirements, deliverables, and project progress across team and cross-site stakeholders.
- Debug systems on boards using debuggers and oscilloscopes; support timing closure and STA activities.
- Manage hardware/software solution projects through planning, implementation, and validation.
Requirements
Must-have technical skills and experience:
- Strong Verilog/SystemVerilog coding and simulation experience (examples: Xilinx simulator, ModelSim, NC-Verilog, VCS).
- Solid understanding of FPGA tool flow, Vivado IP configuration, timing constraints, and timing closure.
- Proven debugging experience on hardware boards using scopes and debuggers.
- Proficiency in scripting (Tcl, Python, Perl, C-shell).
- Good collaboration and communication skills for working with global teams.
- Ability to drive HW/SW projects across all stages from planning to implementation.
Nice-to-have:
- Familiarity with Xilinx SDx tools and embedded application programming (C, Assembly).
- Knowledge of system-level buses and interfaces (AXI, bridges, memory controllers, PCIe, Ethernet) and GT transceivers/SERDES.
- Experience with high-speed serial connectivity and boot/IO peripherals.
Education Requirements
M.S., M.Tech, B.E., B.S., or B.Tech in Electrical Engineering, Electronics & Communication, Computer Science or a related technical field. The posting specifies at least 6+ years of relevant IP/sub-system/system development and validation experience.
