FPGA Design Engineer (Verilog)

Role Summary

Contract FPGA engineer responsible for inheriting and extending an existing FPGA top-level design, adding functional blocks and interfaces, and integrating third-party and in-house IP. The role includes implementation, verification, programming, and support for system integration and testing.

Position requires on-site work in El Segundo, CA and collaboration with systems engineering to deliver a functioning hardware/software system.

Experience Level

Mid-level — typically requires 5+ years of FPGA and/or ASIC design experience.

Responsibilities

Primary responsibilities include:

• Inherit and modify FPGA top-level design; add new functional blocks and interfaces.
• Integrate third-party and in-house IP cores into the design.
• Update and maintain constraint files; perform synthesis, simulation, and place & route to achieve timing closure.
• Program and validate FPGA devices (primarily Xilinx Versal, Ultrascale, Ultrascale+ families).
• Support hardware/software system integration, bring-up, and testing activities.
• Collaborate with system engineering and test teams to resolve integration and verification issues.
• Work on-site during the assigned first shift (8:00 AM to 4:30 PM).

Requirements

Must-have technical skills and conditions:

• 5+ years of FPGA and/or ASIC design experience.
• Proficiency in Verilog/SystemVerilog HDL.
• Strong Xilinx/AMD Vivado tool experience.
• Experience with Xilinx Versal devices; familiarity with Ultrascale/Ultrascale+ families.
• Advanced FPGA implementation skills: synthesis, timing closure, constraints, and P&R flows.
• Active U.S. security clearance.
• Ability to work on-site in El Segundo, CA and on the specified first shift.

Nice-to-have:

• Prior experience integrating IP cores and supporting system-level bring-up and verification.

Education Requirements
