FPGA Design Engineer
Arista NetworksJob Title
FPGA Design Engineer
Role Summary
Join Arista's Hardware Design Engineering team to develop control-path FPGAs for data center switch platforms. You will own the full FPGA design lifecycle from architecture and RTL implementation through verification, system bring-up, and production support, working cross-functionally with hardware, software, and manufacturing teams.
The team focuses on high-speed networking products used in enterprise and hyperscaler data centers and AI clusters.
Experience Level
Mid-level. Target candidate has approximately 5+ years of relevant FPGA/RTL design experience.
Responsibilities
The core responsibilities include RTL development, FPGA implementation, system integration, and verification across the full product lifecycle.
- Design, integrate, simulate, and verify Verilog/SystemVerilog RTL; develop and run custom testbenches.
- Execute FPGA implementation: synthesis, place-and-route, timing closure, and in-system hardware debugging.
- Drive system-level bring-up and debug with hardware, software, and manufacturing teams.
- Participate in peer RTL code reviews and PCB schematic/board design reviews.
- Develop scripts to automate EDA/tool flows and streamline FPGA design workflows.
Requirements
Must-have and preferred qualifications.
- Must-have: 5+ years hands-on Verilog/SystemVerilog RTL design experience.
- Must-have: Proven control-path design experience and familiarity with on-chip bus interfaces (I2C, SPI, MDIO, PCIe, AXI).
- Must-have: Experience with FPGA development flow (synthesis, place-and-route, timing closure) and lab bring-up/debugging.
- Must-have: Local to the Nashua, NH area.
- Nice-to-have: Ethernet datapath architecture and streaming interfaces (AXI-Stream).
- Nice-to-have: Experience in FPGA resource optimization, timing closure, and multi-vendor toolchains.
- Nice-to-have: Scripting proficiency (Python, Tcl, shell) for EDA/tool automation and experience using lab instruments (logic analyzers, oscilloscopes).
Education Requirements
Not specified.
