FPGA Design Engineer

Role Summary

Design and implement FPGA-based signal processing and digital systems for Silvus Technologies' MIMO wireless networking products. Work on research and development projects from concept through field deployment as part of the FPGA Engineering team reporting to the Director of FPGA Engineering.

This position is fully onsite at the Engineering and R&D office in Irvine, CA and supports cross-functional work with RF and software teams.

Experience Level

Entry-level / Early career — minimum of 2 years of demonstrated FPGA design experience required.

Responsibilities

Key duties include design, implementation, verification, and cross-team support for FPGA-based communications systems.

• Architect digital designs for wireless communication projects.
• Implement fixed-point signal processing blocks in RTL alongside systems engineers.
• Write RTL, develop simulation test benches, and perform functional verification.
• Perform FPGA synthesis, timing closure, and resource optimization.
• Hardware verification and troubleshooting; use logic analyzers and lab test equipment.
• Support RF and software engineering teams during integration and testing.
• Participate in field testing and deployment activities as needed.

Requirements

Must-have technical skills, security/eligibility, and employment conditions.

• Minimum 2 years of FPGA design experience working on multi-clock-domain, high-utilization FPGA designs.
• Experience with Xilinx FPGAs, SoCs, and the Vivado IDE.
• Familiarity with scripting for design flows (tcl or Python).
• Ability to perform hardware bring-up, debugging, and verification.
• Must be a U.S. Person (U.S. citizen or permanent resident) due to federal contracts.
• Employment contingent on successful background check and drug test.

Nice-to-have:

• Experience with fixed-point binary arithmetic and digital signal processing designs.
• Experience using MATLAB for algorithm development and verification.
• Experience with communication systems implemented on FPGA or ASIC.
• Advanced degree (MS/PhD) in related technical field.

Education Requirements

Bachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, or a related field plus a minimum of 2 years of FPGA design experience; OR an advanced degree (MS or PhD) in Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, or a related field. Preferred: M.S. in Electrical Engineering.
