FPGA Customer Quality Engineer
Role Summary
Responsible for driving FPGA product quality and resolving customer-reported hardware and system issues. Works externally with customers and internally with engineering, operations, and supply chain teams to perform root-cause analysis and implement corrective actions.
Focuses on debug of chips, boards, and systems, and on improving manufacturing and field quality data and processes.
Experience Level
Senior-level β requires extensive experience. The posting specifies 10+ years working with FPGA/ASIC products and 7+ years in customer-facing debug and board-level validation.
Responsibilities
Primary responsibilities include customer-facing debug, cross-functional coordination, and quality improvement activities.
- Troubleshoot and debug customer-reported issues across hardware, firmware, software, board, system, and manufacturing.
- Coordinate with customers, internal engineering, operations, and supply chain teams to drive root-cause analysis and corrective/preventive actions.
- Conduct on-site customer and manufacturing partner reviews and quality meetings; travel as required.
- Support product qualification, system-level requirements alignment, and production ramp-up at customer sites.
- Develop and improve data collection, monitoring, and failure analysis to enable continuous quality improvement.
Requirements
Must-have technical experience and skills.
- 10+ years working with FPGA and/or ASIC products in design, validation, test, quality engineering, lab debug, or applications engineering.
- 10+ years applying digital logic design principles including SRAM, FIFO, PLL, and related architectures.
- 7+ years providing technical support to external customers for FPGA and/or ASIC-based designs, including issue resolution and design guidance.
- 7+ years leading component debug activities, performing root-cause analysis and cross-functional issue resolution.
- 7+ years in board-level design, bring-up, validation, or hardware system debug.
- 7+ years using FPGA development tools (for example, Quartus) with hands-on knowledge of FPGA architecture, IP integration, and timing/voltage/temperature considerations.
- 5+ years working with high-speed interfaces such as Ethernet, PCIe, DDR, HDMI, USB, AXI, or similar protocols.
Nice-to-have:
- 12+ years of FPGA/ASIC experience.
- Strong analytical, verbal and written communication, and organizational skills.
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively across cross-functional teams; willingness to travel as needed.
Education Requirements
Bachelor's or Master's degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Computer Science, or a related technical field.
