Job Title
FPGA Configuration Architect
Role Summary
Contribute to the design, development, and validation of FPGA configuration architecture and related subsystems. Work with senior architects and cross-functional teams to implement configuration features, debug system issues, and ensure reliable configuration across product lifecycles.
Experience Level
Senior level β requires extensive experience (10+ years in hardware design/architecture; ~7+ years in FPGA configuration architecture and design).
Responsibilities
The role is hands-on and covers architecture, implementation, validation, and cross-team collaboration.
- Contribute to configuration subsystem architecture and specification.
- Support configuration schemes such as JTAG, SPI, and configuration via PCI (CvP).
- Develop configuration-related RTL, firmware, and interfaces; implement control logic and data paths.
- Support silicon bring-up, investigate configuration failures and bitstream issues, and perform root-cause analysis with validation teams.
- Collaborate with architecture, software, firmware, and validation teams; participate in design reviews.
- Optimize configuration time, robustness, performance, and reliability.
- Maintain design specifications, test plans, and debug documentation.
Requirements
Must-have technical skills and experience.
- Deep understanding of hardware design and architecture with significant hands-on experience (design, verification, or architecture).
- Extensive FPGA design experience focused on configuration architecture and implementation.
- Experience developing RTL and firmware for configuration control and data paths.
- Proven ability to debug silicon bring-up issues and perform root-cause analysis on bitstream/configuration failures.
- Familiarity with configuration interfaces and protocols such as JTAG, SPI, and CvP.
- Strong collaboration and communication skills for cross-functional engineering teams and design reviews.
- Ability to produce and maintain clear architecture docs, test plans, and debug records.
Education Requirements
Bachelor's or Master's degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, or a related technical field is required.
