FPGA Board Applications Engineer
Role Summary
Provide technical leadership for FPGA board and development-kit design, validation, and customer enablement. Act as the customer-facing engineering contact to identify board design issues, produce design guidance, and drive cross-functional fixes and improvements.
Experience Level
Senior - requires substantial experience. The role specifies a minimum of 10 years in the semiconductor industry, including at least 5 years focused on FPGA board design.
Responsibilities
Work with product, package, board, verification and project teams to deliver robust FPGA boards and support customers through design and debug.
- Develop and maintain board design guidelines, reference schematics, and supporting collateral for FPGA development kits.
- Review board/development kit rollout plans with architects, package and board design engineers, verification teams, and project managers.
- Represent customer needs internally to improve board quality, usability, and debug capabilities.
- Provide technical support for board-design issues escalated from customers or factory.
- Engage with customers to enable successful board bring-up and troubleshooting.
Requirements
Key skills and experience required or strongly preferred.
- Must-have: Minimum 10 years in the semiconductor industry, including at least 5 years of FPGA board design experience.
- Must-have: Proven ability to work cross-functionally and lead technical discussions to deliver solutions.
- Must-have: Strong written and verbal communication skills for customer-facing and internal technical interactions.
- Nice-to-have: Practical experience with FPGA technologies such as EMIF, I/O, PCIe, Ethernet, and hard/soft processors.
- Nice-to-have: Familiarity with EDA and analysis tools (Concept HDL, OrCAD, Allegro, Ansys, HyperLynx).
- Nice-to-have: Background in analog & high-speed digital design, embedded/telecom/RF domains, or thermal and mechanical design reviews.
- Nice-to-have: Experience engaging and enabling customers in pre- and post-sales contexts.
Education Requirements
Bachelor of Science (BS) in Electrical, Electronics, or Computer Engineering is specified. The posting requires a minimum of 10 years semiconductor-industry experience (including at least 5 years in FPGA board design). No certifications or equivalent-experience language was provided.
