FPD-Link Applications Engineer
Role Summary
Provide application support for Texas Instruments' FPD-Link SerDes products, working with automotive and industrial customers to integrate camera, imaging, and display solutions. The role focuses on system integration, validation, and troubleshooting to enable customer design‑in.
The position partners with Tier 1 and OEM engineering teams and internal product and systems groups to deliver robust hardware and software solutions.
Experience Level
Mid-level — typically requires 3+ years of relevant experience in high‑speed interfaces or automotive electronics.
Responsibilities
Key responsibilities include customer collaboration, system bring‑up, issue resolution, and development of reference materials.
- Collaborate with Tier 1 and OEM teams to architect and optimize IVI and ADAS end products.
- Provide hardware and software support for automotive and industrial solutions, including system bring‑up and on‑site debug.
- Review customer schematics, PCB layout, high‑speed routing, and system integration details.
- Execute measurements and root‑cause analysis using oscilloscopes, logic analyzers, protocol tools, and test equipment.
- Develop application notes, design/debug guides, evaluation modules (EVMs), reference designs, lab demos, and evaluation platforms.
- Own customer escalations and coordinate cross‑functional teams to resolve system‑level issues.
Requirements
Must-have technical skills and experience; preferred items listed separately.
- 3+ years of relevant experience in high‑speed interfaces, SerDes, or automotive electronics.
- Foundational understanding of FPD‑Link, SerDes protocols, or other high‑speed signaling architectures.
- Proven customer‑facing experience supporting Tier 1/OEM customers.
- Solid hardware and software debugging skills and experience with test and measurement tools.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills; ability to produce clear technical documentation.
- Ability to perform system integration, lab validation, and support production development cycles.
Nice-to-have:
- Experience with IVI, ADAS, automotive camera ecosystems, or autonomous driving sensors.
- Familiarity with EMC/EMI debugging, compliance testing, and mitigating link‑level interference.
- Scripting/automation skills for analysis or lab testing.
- Experience with automotive Tier 1/OEM development and production requirements.
Education Requirements
Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, ECE, or a related technical field is required (as stated in the minimum requirements).
