Job Title
Foundry PDK / Collateral Integration Engineer (CAD/EDA)
Role Summary
Responsible for acquiring, validating, packaging, and releasing foundry PDKs and associated collateral for production CAD/EDA flows. Works with foundry partners, EDA tool teams, and internal build/tapeout teams to ensure reproducible, validated PDK environments.
Role emphasizes technical ownership of PDK installation, end-to-end validation, release management, and automation to reduce manual effort and improve release stability.
Experience Level
Mid-level. The posting does not state a specific years-of-experience requirement.
Responsibilities
Core responsibilities include managing foundry collateral, validating PDKs, and delivering reproducible CAD environments.
- Coordinate secure acquisition and access control for foundry collateral and IP bundles.
- Install and configure PDKs, rule decks, models, and libraries in standardized, multi-node environments.
- Execute validation pipeline: unit tests (DRC/LVS/ERC/PERC, models, libraries), smoke tests, and regression tests against prior PDK releases.
- Verify validation checkpoints and sign off prior to transfer to establish teams.
- Package, version, and distribute validated PDKs and maintain release notes and supported-flow documentation.
- Record collateral dependencies and configurations to ensure reproducibility and traceability of build environments.
- Develop automation for validation and regression testing to reduce manual setup and improve efficiency.
- Collaborate with foundry partners, EDA vendors, and internal custom/digital build teams to resolve issues and align toolchains.
Requirements
Must-have technical skills and experience expected for successful performance in this role.
- Hands-on experience installing and validating PDKs and rule decks in production-like environments.
- Familiarity with major EDA tool vendors (Cadence, Synopsys, Siemens) and aligning toolchain versions with foundry recommendations.
- Experience with validation flows: DRC/LVS/ERC/PERC, model and library testing, smoke and regression testing.
- Strong Linux environment experience and scripting ability (Python, Tcl, shell) for automation and CAD flow integration.
- Knowledge of version control and environment/configuration management for reproducible releases.
- Proven debugging, problem-solving, and cross-team communication skills to drive release timelines.
- Nice-to-have: direct experience with foundry interfaces (TSMC, IFS), large-scale PDK release management, and CAD automation/infrastructure.
Education Requirements
