Job Title
Foundation IP Design Engineer
Role Summary
Join the Central Engineering Group as a memory design engineer focused on the development of memory compilers and custom macros across advanced process technologies. The role covers transistor- and gate-level design, layout integration, characterization, and silicon correlation of memory blocks.
Work with a small technical team to design, simulate, verify, and debug memory and circuit blocks from specification through silicon.
Experience Level
Entry-level / Early career β requires 2+ years of related experience.
Responsibilities
Primary responsibilities include design, verification, characterization and silicon correlation for memory macros and related circuit blocks.
- Analyze memory architectures and evaluate trade-offs.
- Design memory and circuit blocks at gate and transistor level.
- Perform transistor-level simulation and analysis using industry simulators.
- Extract layouts and run post-layout simulation and verification.
- Floorplan physical implementation and integrate leafcell layouts to build physical macros.
- Integrate and automate characterization flows to extract timing and power data.
- Specify and verify behavioral and physical memory models.
- Document design specifications, behavioral descriptions, and timing diagrams.
- Specify silicon test plans and correlate silicon results to simulation; assist in silicon debug.
Requirements
Must-have technical skills, plus a few preferred items.
- Experience with development of memory compilers or custom digital memory circuits (SRAM, register files, multi-port memories, ROM).
- Strong understanding of transistor-level circuit behavior and device physics.
- Knowledge of signal integrity, EM/IR, and reliability analysis.
- Familiarity with memory behavioral and physical modeling and DFT schemes for chip-level integration.
- Proficient with transistor-level simulators and scripting to automate simulations, characterization, and verification flows.
- Good communication, interpersonal, and leadership skills; able to work independently and multitask.
- Nice-to-have: familiarity with test setups, silicon testing, and silicon debug techniques.
Education Requirements
Requires a Bachelor of Science (BS) in Electrical Engineering. The posting specifies 2+ years of related experience.
