Job Title

Forward Deployed Engineer, Korea

Role Summary

Embedded on-site with a major memory semiconductor customer in Korea for an initial 12-month deployment, you will adapt and operate Normal's EDA platform inside the customer's environment. The role focuses on integrating platform workflows, post-training models on proprietary data, debugging distributed systems, and validating model outputs against real production specifications.

This is a technically deep, field-facing engineering role that bridges AI models, production software, and semiconductor design/verification workflows.

Experience Level

Mid-level. No explicit years-of-experience requirement stated; role expects demonstrated engineering maturity and prior hands-on AI and hardware experience.

Responsibilities

Main responsibilities include:

  • Diagnose and resolve production issues across system, model, data, and workflow boundaries.
  • Design and run evaluations against real customer workflows; validate generated artifacts against specs.
  • Integrate the platform with business-unit data, design flows, and production tooling.
  • Translate customer constraints into model and platform requirements and relay signals to research/product teams.
  • Post-train models on customer data and build continual-learning loops to improve system performance during the engagement.
  • Make judgment calls on priorities and codify successful patterns for reuse across deployments.

Requirements

Must-have qualifications and skills:

  • Willing and able to work on-site in Korea for the duration of the deployment (explicit requirement).
  • Deep hardware experience combined with recent, hands-on AI experience.
  • Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to trace issues anywhere in the stack.
  • Strong software engineering fundamentals; proficient in Python and comfortable in production codebases.
  • Familiarity with distributed systems and model deployment in production environments.
  • Hands-on experience with modern ML tooling: prompt engineering, fine-tuning, evals, RAG, agentic patterns.
  • Willingness and ability to learn semiconductor design and verification workflows (UVM, SystemVerilog) and work inside customers' testbenches and codebases.
  • Ability to ship ML systems where model behavior must hold up on real-world data; calm decision-making under ambiguity.
  • Comfortable with travel as needed.

Nice-to-have:

  • Professional fluency in Korean and experience working within Korean engineering organizations.
  • Direct experience with memory (DRAM, NAND/SSD) design or verification.
  • Experience with EDA tools, semiconductor design flows, and coverage-driven verification.
  • Experience building or leading FDE/customer-deployment functions at early-stage companies.
  • Open-source contributions or publications in AI/ML venues.

Education Requirements

Not specified.
