Forward Deployed Engineer
Normal ComputingJob Title
Forward Deployed Engineer
Role Summary
Embedded at customer sites, you deploy, integrate, and operate Normal's EDA platform inside partner environments. You work with account and deployment teams to adapt models, integrate with design flows, and ensure the system meets silicon verification and production requirements.
Work includes debugging distributed systems, post-training models, and working with silicon-native languages and verification flows to make the platform reliable in real customer workflows.
Experience Level
Mid-level. No specific years of experience provided; role expects demonstrated software engineering and ML deployment experience and the ability to rapidly learn semiconductor verification workflows.
Responsibilities
Primary responsibilities include:
- Diagnose and resolve production issues across system, model, data, and customer workflows.
- Design and run evaluations against real customer specifications and validate generated artifacts.
- Integrate the platform with customer data, design flows, and tooling in production codebases.
- Embed with customer engineering teams to translate constraints into product and model requirements.
- Post-train models on-prem using proprietary customer data and build continual-learning loops to improve quality over time.
- Prioritize work, make deployment judgments, and codify successful patterns for future engagements.
Requirements
Must-have skills and experience:
- Strong problem-solving and debugging skills across software and ML stacks.
- Proficient in Python and comfortable working in production codebases; literate in distributed systems.
- Hands-on experience with modern ML tooling: prompt engineering, fine-tuning, evals, agentic patterns, and model deployment.
- Ability to work in semiconductor verification contexts (UVM, SystemVerilog) or quickly acquire fluency and credibility with verification engineers.
- Experience shipping ML systems that operate reliably on real-world customer data.
- Willingness and ability to travel for customer engagements as needed.
Nice-to-have:
- Direct EDA or semiconductor design/verification experience (UVM, SystemVerilog, coverage-driven verification).
- Experience building or leading an FDE/customer-deployment function.
- Open-source contributions or publications in AI/ML.
Education Requirements
Not specified.
