Formal Verification Intern - Fall 2026

Role Summary

Internship on NVIDIA's formal verification team responsible for verifying SoC and GPU hardware designs using formal methods. The role contributes to verification plans, assertions, models, and debugging to ensure robust hardware behavior.

Work is collaborative with engineering teams to improve verification flows and address complex RTL issues. Reported intern hourly pay range: 20 USD to 71 USD.

Experience Level

Entry-level internship for current undergraduate or graduate students (BS/MS/PhD candidates).

Responsibilities

The intern will support formal verification activities and related engineering tasks.

  • Define critical behaviors and create comprehensive formal test plans.
  • Develop environment assumptions, assertions, and coverage properties.
  • Build abstraction models and formal test benches to enable full or bounded proofs.
  • Analyze and debug RTL to identify and resolve failure scenarios.
  • Use AI tools to assist debugging and verification flow development.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional engineering teams to solve verification challenges.
  • Develop scripts and process improvements to enhance verification workflows.

Requirements

Must-have technical skills and experience.

  • Demonstrated interest in formal verification or digital hardware design.
  • Solid understanding of hardware design principles.
  • Practical experience with Verilog or SystemVerilog, including temporal logic assertions.
  • Proficiency in scripting (TCL, Perl, and/or Python).
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.

Nice-to-have:

  • Hands-on experience with formal verification or design verification projects.
  • Expertise writing SystemVerilog Assertions (SVAs).
  • Familiarity with EDA formal verification tools.

Education Requirements

Currently pursuing a BS, MS, or PhD in Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, or a related field.
