Formal Verification Engineer, Sr Lead
QualcommJob Title
Formal Verification Engineer, Sr Lead
Role Summary
Senior engineer on the GCAD Formal team responsible for driving formal verification of complex SoC blocks to convergence and sign-off. Works closely with global architecture, design, and systems teams to define proofs, constraints, and verification strategies.
Experience Level
Senior — preferred 6–8 years of relevant experience; role expects strong hands-on formal verification background (typically 5+ years).
Responsibilities
Deliver formal verification sign-off by applying advanced formal methodologies and automation.
- Drive formal verification of complex design blocks using Formal Apps and convergence strategies to achieve exhaustive, high-confidence sign-off.
- Collaborate with worldwide architecture, design, and systems teams to meet verification goals and resolve issues.
- Review and refine formal setups, proofs, constraints, and abstractions with design/DV teams.
- Engage with EDA vendors and evaluate advanced DV methodologies to improve sign-off quality.
- Develop automation and tooling (Python preferred) to increase efficiency and scalability of FV flows.
- Analyze difficult formal problems and propose effective verification strategies and abstractions.
- Apply low‑power formal methodology where required (power-intent verification, UPF/CPF considerations).
Requirements
Key technical skills and experience required for the role. Degrees and formal education expectations are summarized separately below.
- Must-have: 5+ years of hands-on formal verification experience.
- Must-have: Strong understanding of formal concepts, proof strategies, and abstraction techniques.
- Must-have: Proficiency with formal tools (examples: Jasper, VC Formal, Questa Formal).
- Must-have: Strong scripting skills; Python strongly preferred for automation.
- Must-have: Strong analytical, problem-solving, and clear communication skills for global collaboration.
- Nice-to-have: Property-based FV experience (SVA) and prior engagement with EDA vendors.
- Nice-to-have: Low-power verification knowledge (power-aware verification concepts, isolation/retention, power/clock gating, power-intent debugging).
Education Requirements
Bachelor's in Computer Science, Electrical/Electronics Engineering, Engineering, or related field with 4+ years of hardware-engineering or related experience; OR Master's in a related field with 3+ years' relevant experience; OR PhD in a related field with 2+ years' relevant experience (the posting lists these degree-plus-experience alternatives as minimum qualifications).
