Job Title

Formal Verification Engineer - New College Grad 2026

Role Summary

Entry-level role on the formal verification team verifying advanced processor and accelerator RTL using assertions, model checking, and formal tools. You will work with formal engineers, architects, and RTL designers to translate design intent into properties, debug counterexamples, and improve silicon quality.

Experience Level

Entry-level (new college graduate).

Responsibilities

Primary responsibilities include:

  • Learn and apply formal verification techniques to processor and accelerator designs.
  • Understand design behavior from specifications, RTL, and design-team discussions.
  • Write assumptions, assertions, and cover properties for key microarchitectural behaviors.
  • Debug formal failures and counterexamples to identify RTL bugs, property issues, or constraint problems.
  • Use abstraction, modeling, and scripting to improve proof convergence and team productivity.
  • Clearly communicate verification progress, coverage, risks, and findings to stakeholders.

Requirements

Core skills and preferred qualifications.

  • Must-have: Strong analytical skills and ability to collaborate on complex engineering problems.
  • Must-have: Familiarity with Verilog or SystemVerilog.
  • Must-have: Programming or scripting experience (Python, Tcl, Perl, C/C++ or similar).
  • Must-have: Ability to learn quickly, ask good questions, and work effectively in teams.
  • Nice-to-have: Hands-on experience with formal tools such as JasperGold or VC Formal.
  • Nice-to-have: Experience writing SystemVerilog Assertions.
  • Nice-to-have: Understanding of CPU/GPU/accelerator/SoC or memory-system microarchitecture.
  • Nice-to-have: Demonstrated use of AI or automation to improve engineering workflows.

Education Requirements
