Formal Verification Engineer
Role Summary
Join the UMC verification team to perform formal verification and formal sign-off on multiple blocks across AMD SoC products. The role focuses on building formal environments, writing assertions, and establishing portable formal flows that can be reused across hierarchies.
Experience Level
Mid-level — typically 3+ years of ASIC/CPU verification experience.
Responsibilities
Primary responsibilities include:
- Create formal verification (FV) test plans in collaboration with design teams.
- Build FV environments and write SystemVerilog assertions, covers, and constraints.
- Develop a common, portable formal verification flow for reuse across hierarchies.
- Perform formal sign-off for blocks and set priorities for verification tasks.
- Provide training and mentorship to new and existing team members; collaborate across multiple sites.
Requirements
Must-have:
- 3+ years of experience on complex CPU/ASIC projects, with verification experience through tapeout.
- Hands-on experience writing SystemVerilog assertions.
- Exposure to formal methodologies and use of industry formal tools (e.g., VC Formal, Jasper).
- Scripting skills in Perl, Tcl, or equivalent.
- Strong analytical skills and ability to work in a fast-paced, multi-site environment.
Nice-to-have:
- Knowledge of cache coherency or AMBA protocols.
- Experience creating portable verification flows across hierarchies.
Education Requirements
Bachelor's or Master’s degree in Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or Computer Science (with a focus on computer/computer architecture) is preferred.
